Dr. Seth Petersen is a is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in advanced minimally invasive, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery. He completed fellowship training in advanced gastrointestinal, bariatric, and minimally invasive surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, one of the largest and most highly regarded hospital systems in the New York City metro region.
During his training, Dr. Petersen developed extensive experience in complex surgical procedures using innovative techniques designed to minimize incision size, reduce pain, and support faster recovery. He is trained in robotic-assisted surgery and utilizes advanced technology, including the da Vinci 5 Surgical System, to provide precise, exceptional surgical care close to home.

He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and has a strong academic background that includes leadership roles in graduate medical education and quality improvement initiatives.
Originally from small-town Nebraska, Dr. Petersen brings a deep appreciation for rural communities and values building meaningful relationships with his patients. After nearly a decade of training and practice in the New York City metro area, he is excited to return to the Midwest and serve patients in Northwest Iowa.
