Orange City Area Health System Leadership

Orange City Area Health System has been recognized with a 2023 Performance Leadership Award for excellence in two key categories: Quality and Patient Perspective. Compiled by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Awards honor top quartile performance (i.e., 75^th percentile or above) among rural hospitals in Quality, Outcomes and/or Patient Perspective.

“We are, once again, honored to receive this distinction as a testament to the performance of our staff,” commented Marty Guthmiller, CEO of Orange City Area Health System. “Quality is always our first goal, and to link that with Patient Satisfaction (Perspective) is particularly gratifying.”

The Performance Leadership Awards are based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. INDEX data is relied upon by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations and state offices of rural health around the country to measure and monitor performance across several areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

Chris Sietstra , CEO

Chris Sietstra serves as Chief Executive Officer of Orange City Area Health System. He joined OCAHS in 2024 as Director of Finance, where he worked closely with teams across the organization and gained a strong understanding of the health system’s operations, goals, and role in the community.

Chris is a Northwestern College graduate and Certified Public Accountant. He brings experience in finance, planning, and organizational leadership to his role as CEO.

Originally from Hull, Iowa, Chris and his family reside in Orange City. He serves on the Revolving Loan Fund Board and is a member of the National Advisory Counsel.

Dr. Harrison Hanson, CMO

As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hanson provides leadership in all areas of medicine throughout the health system. He offers guidance on hospital quality initiatives, ensures that medical staff adheres to and follows all healthcare regulations, seeks ways to improve the organization’s clinical services, and provides oversight and chart review of advanced-level providers.

In addition to serving as Chief Medical Officer, he continues to be part of Orange City Area Health System’s team of family medicine providers and emergency medicine physicians and offers prenatal, birth care, and Natural Procreative (NaPro) Technology Creighton Model FertilityCare™ services.

Dr. Hanson received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his residency at the Mercy Family Medicine Residency Program in Mason City, Iowa. He and his family live in Orange City.

Board of Trustees

Orange City Area Health System is a municipal entity that provides comprehensive and state-of-the-art health care services to the people of the region. The hospital is governed by a seven-member board of trustees who are dedicated to ensuring quality health care services are provided to our communities.
