Marketing & Communications Specialist
The Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day execution of marketing, communications, and public relations activities for Orange City Area Health System. This role focuses on implementing the marketing plan, managing media relationships, and producing high-quality content across digital, print, and traditional channels. Working closely with and reporting to the Director of Foundation & Community Relations, this position translates high-level strategy into consistent, timely, and effective marketing and communications that support the hospital’s mission, service lines, foundation initiatives, and community presence. This role requires strong independence, initiative, and attention to detail in execution.
Marketing & Communications:
- Execute the health system’s marketing and communications plan in collaboration with the Director of Foundation & Community Relations.
- Develop (in conjunction with leadership), execute, and manage integrated marketing campaigns (digital, print, media, and community-based) that support service lines, foundation initiatives, events, and organizational priorities
- Develop and distribute marketing and communication materials including press releases, advertisements, brochures, flyers, newsletters, signage, and digital content.
- Ensure messaging is accurate, consistent, on-brand, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
Media & Public Relations:
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for local and regional media.
- Write, pitch, and distribute press releases and story ideas to media outlets.
- Coordinate media interviews, photo opportunities, and coverage for health system initiatives, providers, events, and foundation activities.
- Support crisis or sensitive communications in collaboration with leadership.
Digital & Social Media:
- Manage and maintain the health system’s social media presence, including content creation, scheduling, monitoring, and engagement.
- Create shareable, platform-appropriate content that promotes services, events, providers, and community impact.
- Manage website content updates to ensure accuracy, relevance, and timeliness.
- Track and report basic performance metrics for digital and social media efforts.
Content Creation & Brand Management:
- Create written, visual, and multimedia content including copy, graphics, photography, and basic video.
- Maintain brand standards across all internal and external communications.
- Coordinate the design, production, and distribution of branded materials and promotional items.
- Support provider onboarding by coordinating bios, photos, and marketing profiles as needed.
Events & Community Engagement:
- Support marketing and promotional efforts for health system, foundation, and community events.
- Assist with event promotion, materials, media coverage, and post-event communications.
- Represent the organization at community events, open houses, tours, and outreach activities as needed.
Collaboration & Internal Support:
- Work collaboratively with departments to fulfill marketing requests and promote service lines and programs.
- Serves as a key member of health system marketing committee.
- Coordinate with foundation and community relations efforts to support fundraising, donor communications, and volunteer engagement.
- Maintain organized records of projects, assets, and media contacts.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience Requirements:
3+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations preferred. Experience in a healthcare or nonprofit environment is a plus. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, working knowledge of social media platforms, experience with Adobe Suite (or related software) and Microsoft Office.
