ORANGE CITY AREA HEALTH SYSTEM AUXILIARY GIFTS $60,000 TO HOSPITAL

ORANGE CITY AREA HEALTH SYSTEM AUXILIARY GIFTS $60,000 TO HOSPITAL Funds will be used to purchase fetal monitoring system for birth center April 13, 2016 — The Auxiliary of Orange City Area Health System presented a check to the health system for $60,000 from funds raised in 2015. The gift will be used to purchase an OBIX fetal monitoring system that interfaces with the health system’s electronic patient/medical documentation system, allowing physicians to see and monitor a patient’s tracings at the hospital/birth center, in their clinic office, or even from their home. “The funds raised come from Gift Garden proceeds and the auxiliary’s monthly fundraisers,” said Mary Plathe, Volunteer Services Manager for Orange City Area Health System. “Many thanks to those who support our fundraising endeavors throughout the year.” This year’s gift of $60,000 brings the total dollars given to the health system by the Auxiliary to over $1 million since the Auxiliary was formed in 1960. Other items that Auxiliary fundraisers have enabled the health system to purchase include surgical equipment, hospital and clinic furniture, an Xray machine, an intercom system, an ambulance, Lifeline units, a whirlpool tub for senior care, a heart monitor, educational assistance, and many more essential items for patient care and senior care. According to Plathe, the Auxiliary and all the volunteers play a critical role in supporting the health system and the patients and families it serves at each of its facilities. Mary Kepp, who served as the Auxiliary’s inaugural president, continues to volunteer for Orange City Area Health System at age 90, and is one of 200 dedicated volunteers. “It is truly inspirational to realize that over the lifetime of our Auxiliary, over $1 million has been contributed to Orange City Area Health System through the efforts of our Auxiliarians and volunteers,” reported Dan McCarty, COO of Orange City Area Health System. “Our volunteer team of nearly 200 is a great gift and blessing to OCAHS, and we are humbled and honored to work with them.”
