Marty Guthmiller, CEO of Orange City Area Health System, announced that Harrison H. Hanson, M.D., has signed a letter of intent to join the health system’s family practice team starting in summer 2010. A native of Long Prairie, Minnesota, Dr. Hanson is currently Chief Resident at the Mercy Family Practice program in Mason City, Iowa. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis. He received undergraduate education at Bethel University, where he received a B.S. in biology. Dr. Hanson is the 2008 recipient of Mercy’s Compassionate Care Award, and was elected in 2007 to the University of Minnesota Medical School’s Gold Humanism Honor Society. “We feel blessed to have someone of Dr. Hanson’s ability and character join our health system,” reported Guthmiller. “He and his wife, Rebecca, will be a tremendous addition to our staff and our community. His addition will enable us to provide expanded patient choice and to see more patients daily.” Orange City Area Health System consists of family practice clinics in Orange City, Hospers, and Paullina, Iowa, currently served by 13 physicians and mid-level providers. A native of Northwood, Iowa, Dr. Millard is currently in residency at the Mercy Family Practice program in Mason City, Iowa. He is a graduate of Des Moines University where he received his Doctor of Osteopathy license. Dr. Millard received undergraduate education at Luther College in Decorah, where he received a B.A. in biology. “We are humbled that another physician of Dr. Millard’s education, training and character has chosen us as a place to practice medicine,” reported Guthmiller. “It is truly a testament to our current medical staff, facilities and community that he and his wife, Lindsay, have made this decision. His addition will enable us to provide expanded patient choice and to see more patients daily.”
